Barylestis occidentalis (camaroon crab spider)

Barylestis occidentalis, commonly known as the Cameroon crab spider, is a species of spider found in the forests of Cameroon, Africa. These spiders are relatively small, with adults typically measuring around 5 to 10 millimeters in length. They have a flattened body shape, resembling a crab, hence the name. Their coloration can vary but often includes shades of brown, gray, or black, helping them blend into their natural habitat. Cameroon crab spiders are ambush predators, using their camouflage to hide among leaf litter or on tree bark, where they wait to ambush prey that passes by.
