Chilobrachys fimbriatus, commonly known as the Indian Violet, is a species of tarantula native to India and Sri Lanka. This medium-sized tarantula is named for its striking violet-colored abdomen and legs. The carapace and other body parts may vary in coloration from brown to black. It typically has a leg span of around 12 to 15 centimeters. Chilobrachys fimbriatus is an obligate burrower, creating silk-lined burrows in the soil or leaf litter for shelter. They are nocturnal predators, feeding primarily on insects and other small invertebrates.
